Biography

Alba Martínez - Soprano

Alba María Martínez Nieto, a soprano born in Barcelona in 1993, has a solid and versatile academic and artistic career. She holds a higher degree in Classical and Contemporary Music Performance, specializing in Lyric Singing, from the Conservatori del Liceu (2019), where she trained under the guidance of Eduard Giménez. Previously, in 2015, she graduated in Business Administration and Management from the University of Barcelona. In her constant pursuit of perfection, she is currently studying a master's degree in early music at the ESMUC and has received masterclasses from great figures in opera such as Raúl Giménez, Xavier Sabata, Fiorenza Cedolins, Cynthia Sanner, Jose Miguel Pérez Sierra, Lorraine Nubar, Kurt Widmer, Mariella Devia, and Lisette Oropesa.

Her foray into operatic stages began strongly in January 2019, when she debuted at the Palau de la Música Catalana performing the demanding role of Königin der Nacht in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. This same role led her to win the Mirna Lacambra competition in July 2020, allowing her to perform it in various theaters. Her career has continued to rise with debuts as a soloist in top-tier venues: in December 2023 she debuted at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and in May 2024 at the Teatro Real, on both occasions with a program entirely dedicated to Mozart that encompassed opera and oratorio. Recently, in October, she took on the role of Pamina at the Teatre Fortuny in Reus, and in June 2026 she debuted as Giannetta in L'Elisir d'Amore at the Palau de la Música Catalana, accompanied by the Terrassa 48 orchestra with Ópera Popular de Barcelona.

Thanks to her vocal ductility, Alba has added a notable variety of roles to her repertoire, including Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Rosaura (Los Gavilanes), Belinda (Dido ed Aeneas), Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice), Berenice (L'Occasione fa il Ladro), Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte), and Frasquita (Carmen). In the symphonic and concert field, her talent has crossed borders, participating in the Rossini in Wildbad Festival in Germany, and performing as a soloist in masterpieces such as Mozart's Requiem with the Orquestra del Reial Cercle Artístic at the Palau de la Música Catalana, as well as in Haydn's Die Schöpfung. Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of singing alongside renowned voices such as Simón Orfila, Aquiles Machado, and Aya Wakizono, and has offered lyric recitals such as the one held within the programming of Amigos de la Ópera de La Coruña.
